Washington Park
Wash Park is Denver's favorite urban oasis. Located in south central Denver, this former farming district is named for it’s destination urban park.

Washington Park – the park – was planned by Reinhard Schuetze in 1899, when 165 acres were set aside for two lakes, a pond and public gardens. With its 54 flower beds, 2.6 mile jogging path, tennis courts, lakes and bowling green, it’s not unusual to listen to the Colorado Symphony at the Boathouse Pavilion while newlyweds are photographed as cyclists pass by.
Wash Park and Wash Park West contain 7,072 homes; over 72% of these homes were built prior to 1940. The style is eclectic, with Denver Squares, Craftsman bungalows and Tutor mansions. New homes are also available, as smaller Prairie homes give way to luxurious custom residences.
Best of All:
The Wash Park neighborhood has several commercial blocks where streetcars used to stop. These corner retail shops and cafés dot the neighborhood. Old South Gaylord and Alameda Avenue are filled with shops, restaurants and art galleries.
