Aurora Colorado Jack o Launch EventSeptember, 2009 - The annual Jack-o-Launch event is just around the corner, and the City of Aurora is currently recruiting teams for this favorite autumn event. What is a Jack-o-Launch? As the name suggests, it is a contest to determine who can shoot a pumpkin the longest distance. Creative engineers build catapults, trebuchets and air cannons for the wacky competition. As the city reports, "There’s music and games and big, big crowds. And if you’ve never had the pleasure of helping a pumpkin soar, it’s an event you just got to sign up for."
